Botanical garden on top of a mountain

Can someone pinch me in the arm? Am I really in the Swiss Mountains with my little daughter? I mean this really was my wish when I carried her around for 9 months in my belly. Hoping I was creating a little adventurious person who likes to go to the mountains with me. And here we are, here we bloody are. Just the two of us. I feel enormly strong doing this on my own, not scared at all.

I want to explore the great outdoors to create experiences together that last a lifetime

This is it. This is what I could do every day of my life: going on an adventure somewhere in the mountains with Roos. It reminds me of this song of Tom Rosenthal 'You might find yours' : "I'm not sure what the secret to hapiness is but I'm sure it starts when you go outside." This is why I want to make money: to explore the great outdoors to create experiences together that last a lifetime. And put them on paper and camera in case I get amnesia ;) Noo, just beacuse I love doing that ofcourse. I mean how cool would it be turning 96 and having all these diaries filled with stories and read them again and again, just feeling extremely grateful for a life well lived.

While Roos is sleeping in our temporary house in the mountains I'm writing in the garden with a breathtaking view on the Swiss Mountains. This is a way better view during writing then I normally have in the city. I'm wondering if the view ever get's normal when you live here. I think I would be amazed every single morning when I wake up just feeling extremly gratefull being alive on this beautiful planet. Mother earth is stunning and it is my mission to show the world her beauty with my photos and writings.

La Rambertia protects and cultivates almost 1,000 alpine species including two sorts of edelweiss and 600 local varieties

Jardin Alpen La Rambertia

When Roos is awake from her little morning nap I will go on a hike with her. The weather is perfect: 25 degrees and a clear blue sky. In the Netherlands it's now raining cats and dogs, so I feel extra gratefull for this stunning weather which makes our stay even more perfect. So later today we are going to 'Jardin Alpen La Rambertia' found at Les Rochers-de Naye. La Rambertia protects and cultivates almost 1,000 alpine species including two sorts of edelweiss and 600 local varieties. We will go there by a little train, all the way up the mountain. So excited for this adventure with Roos!

And oh how we loved this trip. First we took the bus to Gare Veye, then we went by train to Montreaux, There we had to wait for half an hour before we could go with a small cute train to the summit of Rochers-de-Naye (it takes less than an hour), through ever changing spectacular scenery. I mean only the trip by train to the top was worth the visit. At the top it was not sunny at all at 2000 meters, but cloudy which made the whole experience really mysterious.

I really felt on top of the world carying Roos around in the rugged mountains. And like always when I go on my own adventure I meet people at the right moment when I need some help. This time it was a guy Alex from Boedapest that walked a long with us, which gave me a safe feeling to have him around in case someting happend, and took some photos of Roos and I with my analog camera.

Himalayas

Unfortunately we haven't seen the edelweiss, but we did spotted a couple of mountain marmots (would prefer to have them walking freely). And the typical Nepal flags which made me feel I really was in the Himalayas with Roos (how cool would that be btw). Oh and we had the garden almost for ourselves. Normally it can be really crowded, but because we where not in holliday season, it was super quit.

Tiny botanical garden in the skies

The walking path was really narrow and because I was carrying Roos on my belly and not on my back it was a bit scarry, because I couldn't see where I was putting my feed down. So because of that and the cloudy weather I decided not to take a very long walk in this beautiful tiny botanical garden in the skies. But I was super happy we went to this amazing garden on top of a mountain where surprisingly many alpine plants are clinging to the rocks. Mother nature at it's best!
